What would you have done? (as either player)

Lose with dignity they say. I will try better next time - although it is a bit hard when your opponent is fully aware that you have not pressed your clock (in a winning position) and jumps up and down with glee the moment your flag falls.

I would have beckoned toward the clock, wouldn’t like to win like that.

I suppose it is a bit more understandable when you know that his opponent was 12, and was probably celebrating his best ever "win", However, if you are playing in a competitive match you should know how to behave. I think most people would wait a few mins before pointing to the clock, however it is the players responsibility to press his clock, and you can't really complain if he chooses not to alert you

I forgot to press my clock once. It made a delicious soup with the help of a little thyme

I wouldn't jump up and down with glee... but it's each player's responsibility to press their clock: Chess isn't about mercy!

Clocks and more psychology below...
I have won many games like above at the Marshall Chess Club.Once,my opponents battery died on his clock and he did not notice it right away. The arbiter ruled a no count, even though my opponent mated me,and the score card proved it.The arbiter said..."all equipment must be kept to tourney specifications at all times".Then my opponent changed his battery and I beat him on time the next game and I won the entire section later that day(blitz). It was close. He would have won the tourney if it was not for the arbiters ruling on my opponents clock.
All is fair in love and war!

At home, and away from chess clubs and tourneys,I prefer to use no clocks, with no time pressures. Most of my friends either move too fast anyway or take no more than about 3 minutes a move, which is standard anyway in a 40/2.I try to do the opposite of my opponents in time signature moves.Psychologically,it can disrupt a players thought process in chess moves. So,if he moves fast in a 40/2,I move as slow as possible without timing out.I have that down to a science. This makes my opponent fidgety. If he moves too slow,I move as fast as possible, sit there and fake a fidget, yawn, fake sleeping and more.Making him feel uneasy is my goal. Then he sometimes moves too quickly for his own good and blunders.
Again, all is fair in love and war.

Just like my deletions in the general forums.I have reasons for that.It brings to the surface
certain elements of one or two people to actually see if my ignore list is warranted. For "true" allies will never complain to GK,no matter what deletions occur, especially if they do not know truly why. So,it is my personal "test"I use to see resultant actions. And sure enough, like a "cliche"they fall into the snare.I simply love to surface some people and their actions,by testing the "waters".If I pay for it,well,so what?Interesting enough,in many of those same threads,a few others have deleted posts, yet no complaint was lodged against them.See,unlike others,I would never complain to GK simply because a few posts are deleted from time to time. Its not "egotistical" on my part, but actually is "egotistical"on the complainers part. Why?Because "some"people tend to overpower and want to control the GK forums, like a policeman. It is obvious, since they are always "present"and "guarding it" like a watchdog. Its like their "goal"in life, since they have no life. This makes me laugh.Perhaps, for example,I may have let some info in a forum slip and gave out "too much"personal info.Perhaps, for example,I do not want people to know that my true rating was 2500+ but may have let "some"people know it,"temporarily".But then said to myself...."no,I should not have posted it,so I will delete it."It may confuse some people, but truly it is no "biggie" and any reader should get over it,unless they have an issue with me personally, which they themselves would never admit to.But I find out! How?By deleting and then the "words"come out like..."egoistic" mentioned about me.
No,no,no...the deletions were my "test"to actually bring out those words against me,which were actually "present"inside that person to begin with!

So,I forced it out of them! All super psychology to prove things which goes back a long way on GK against 2 or 3 people. And the ignore list remains.I was about to lift it,but again, true people on GK that respect me,regardless of some excuse of non conformity or "appearances"that it confuses future readers would not lodge a complaint against me.So,my "test"proves something. And my logic is flawless.

The other hidden reason I delete is to prove a point.Instead of deleting,I would prefer to edit, like on many other sites. So,its kind of a sign or hidden message that an edit feature should be engineered on GK to help so called "abusers" like me.No,not really abusing, just doing things with a strong motive connected. But my though process goes beyond most,so I cannot expect my motives to be understood,See,sometimes psychology works in ways that simple asking for edit features will not work.

That is why I start a GK club.I will delete all I want, and no complaint can be lodged with any actions against me,since I would be the founder. That is not "ego",just keeping my club polished and never suspended like other clubs are perpetually suspended.
So,if/when I decide to start another club, look for massive deletions from time to time. Its all psychology, not ego as some suggest. And if it bother one or two,well...perhaps that is my goal for very good and specifically logical reasons.Keeps the spice rolling to perhaps illustrate the futility and non necessity of "cliche"thinking and actions against me like a programmed machine of expected flow and eddies of others.I am beyond that, way beyond.Another way to put it is....follow the carrot I just placed in front of you with a stick. My reasons,in other words are deep and profound and "surface" the things I suspect. This was my goal from the beginning.Test over. And two have failed the test.Interesting,to say the least! Those who know, understand what I just wrote,or do they?Probably not.

clocks & psychology
As I understand it from your post, the game that was replayed was a rapidplay game. If this is the case, I am not sure why your opponent kept a score, as you don't need to in rapidplay games. As for the decision, it was wrong for the following reasons

1. Article 5: The completion of the game
5.1 a. The game is won by the player who has checkmated his opponent’s king. This
immediately ends the game, provided that the move producing the checkmate
position was in accordance with Article 3 and Articles 4.2 – 4.7.

6.10 a. Every indication given by the chessclock is considered to be conclusive in the
absence of any evident defect. A chessclock with an evident defect shall be
replaced by the arbiter, who shall use his best judgement when determining the
times to be shown on the replacement chessclock.
b. If during a game it is found that the setting of either or both clocks is incorrect,
either player or the arbiter shall stop the chessclock immediately. The arbiter shall
install the correct setting and adjust the times and move-counter, if necessary. He
shall use his best judgement when determining the clock settings.

An interesting post, so I will quote a previous member of the Marshall Cless Club
" I don't believe in psychology, I believe in good moves"
