Software to write down variations in correspondence games?

Can someone recommend me a good program to write down variations and observations of the games we play in gameknot?

Fritz allows you to annotate games and insert diagrams and variations.

If you look at a finished game, here's an Annotate... feature. It may not meet your needs, but it's something to consider.

You could use Chessbase, but it's paid.

A free alternative is Scid Vs Pc
