Again,in the 5 minute section with 0 extra time,98% of my opponents are about 1400 or less. You can check that if you click on my games with the blitz link in my profile.But sometimes I wait over 10 minutes for a game to Pop up,so I just quit out of falling asleep waiting. |

In any case,you will still wait,even at 5 min 0,but your opponents should be less rated than what you encountered elsewhere.Also note the amount of ongoing games at the bottom of the board search screen.Usually,if that number shows less than,say,30 ongoing games,then you will be waiting even longer.Since you are not a paying member,however,I do not know or remember what options you have or do not have compared to me.Perhaps they are the same,I do not know. May I lightly suggest you become a paying member?Speed is faster,no ads and other options prevail. |

Well,sorry to hear that.But after checking your live blitz game list...the highest blitz chess rating was one of your opponents at 1610,not 1950-1991 as you just mentioned.Perhaps their GK CC rating was 1950+,but NOT their blitz rating.But that is far different!If you check MY blitz record,you will see no one in 267 games was anywhere near 1900 to 2200.See,even many 2300 rated players with their GK CC rating,are actually terrible at blitz!I could name a few,but not here. Perhaps blitz is not your cup of tea or perhaps you may need some blitz training to improve? Yes.By the way,even I "look out"for those 1200 CC rated/blitz rated players that appear!They can be the most dangerous with no history to analyze their past games in blitz or CC.I have been beaten a few times in the past(not on GK however)by an innocent looking 1200 rated.For those 1200 rated,I use more of a Petrov as black for a safer drawish style or my pet Trompowski as white with all the knowledge behind me to win,no matter what their blitz or CC rating is. In theory,you should be able to get some 1300-1400 blitz players in the morning hours between 7am and 11am.Many are school kids.But which time level they would use,I do not know,since I only use the 5/0. Good luck!My blitz rating on GK is 2000 right now.I have stopped at 2000 due to boredom and the reverse of you....not getting enough of a challenge!Me thinks that I will go back to unrated blitz and have more fun.Perhaps you should stick to unrated for a while and find ways to beat your opponents? |

Too bad about the live chess on this site If one is a blitz master like me,there is NO competition at all on GK.Usually,like when I was playing on sites like "Instantchess" or RHP,the competition was massive.Wins against players rated at 2100 to 2500 would yield about 5 to 9 rating points per win or a point or two for a draw.If you take a look at my long list of wins(blitz)you will instantly notice only a fractional point gain for a win.So,its an uphill battle and kind of comical to even play blitz(for me)on GK.I might gain 10 points after 300 wins,for example!!! I play to keep in shape with blitz,but without any serious competition,it really is a waste of my time.It won't happen,but if GK would actually add a host of bells and whistles to GK blitz,I guarantee that more people will join GK to play blitz.Sure...GK is primarily a long corresp chess site and not a blitz site.But one CAN have their cake and eat it,with both great long corresp and great blitz,that is,if the new owners have any "real"insight into making GK a shining star. |

And I am higher rated on both of those sites than this one by a lot because, well, I'm not playing against Grandmasters all the time haha |

That site had search engines for specific rating groups and even specific geographic areas you could list for the blitz search engine to find for you.So,if I only wanted to play someone from Germany,then that is all I would get.But,things may have changed.If I feel up to it,I will look myself up again.I was 2600+blitz at the time on Instantchess.On GK,trying to even reach 2200 from my now 2123,regardless of 100% wins and no draws,is like trying to climb a steeply sloped glass mountain of slick ice with axle grease on the slope wearing no shoes,no socks and having no ice picks to help me climb the mountain. But yes,GK can upgrade the blitz if they wanted to.But do they want to?I doubt it. Perhaps they have a leak in their bag of money for this site and have other investments they have priority over right now. |

Hey aeonyx... Once,a comment was made about the fact that when rated blitz came to GK,that it would bring an influx of new members who love blitz.I have yet to see that! I am not sure,but I think as of Sept 2024,I may have the highest blitz rating of anyone on GK.But after hundreds and hundeds of game wins against much lesser rated opponents....I am still at only 2141. I was at 2530+on Instantchess years ago with only about 200 games played. So yes,its not worth playing blitz on GK(for me) UNLESS GK gets a sudden influx of good competition.Perhaps then,I can gain some points,instead of yawning myself to death. I would even invite a long string of losses!Even THAT would excite me!!! I went back to the unrated section a week ago at different times of the day,just to check if anyone was "in there". The first time was 0 players and the second time had only 1 player.And I waited 30 minutes to see a change.Notta,nothing.Like I said....no action.I still play when I am totally bored on the island here...but that "glass mountain"still reappears in front of me everytime.So,I am still trying to figure out if I yawn more before bed,or playing blitz here. |

Maybe then,more players will come flying into the beehive on GK,who knows.I am waiting for the ghost owners of GK to "reappear"an announce something,at least once in a while.For,it appears to me that many have messaged the owners and received nothing back.I suggest that everyone finds a deep cave to shout into.At least then....you would receive an intelligent echo back of yourself!! |
