Keep in mind that the games are bullet, not a long classical chess match in which Carlsen would be favored with his rating(2847).There is a big difference.I,myself, have beaten players several hundred rating points above me in bullet chess(one minute) as well as lightning(2 min) and speed(5 min).My rating on one other chess site reached 2530 in both lightning and speed chess. But,of course that was not officially sanctioned by the FIDE or the USCF.My USCF rating however averaged out at 2400,but I have been inactive for years with the USCF.But that 2400 rating was classical chess, not blitz.
I always avoided bullet unless OTB for many reasons. The hand is faster than a mouse click depending upon many factors. And even the chess pieces, depending upon the set,can slow down an opponents reaction time, especially in bullet. That is another lesson that would take a few pages to explain.

With sudden death and no time delay, various strategies can be studied and presetup with some moves even being unsound and weak, yet defeating a much stronger opponent by the time that clock reaches zero for the opponent.Oro is truly fantastic and would more than likely crush me in most bullet or lightning, but not sure of 5/0.Only time will tell and if Oro will propel himself beyond 2377+FIDE,but in a classical game, not a blitz game. There may also be a kind of psychological "promotion"going on in which Carlsen did not purposely do his best against Oro out of respect for him and to give him hope for the future. That is something that most do not even think about, but I have personally seen that scenario play out at the Marshall Chess Club years ago with a GM allowing himself to be defeated against an occassional 2000-2100 rated player of a very youthful age.Making Oro smile and giving him hope is the best gift any GM can give another player.I am not saying that Carlsen layed down the game, but it is remotely possible. Now,if Oro defeats Carlsen in a 10+game match with much longer classical time controls, then and only then I will really be impressed. The world of blitz, especially bullet is a galaxy away from the standard classic game time controls.

Yes
Yes, I can easily see a player with absolutely nothing to prove, like Carlsen, being tempted to encourage a talented youngster by playing something a little wild that gives chances to both players. I’m not saying that’s what happened.

If anyone should be embarrassed, it’s going to be those established big names who have no proper answer to Carlsen’s play.

Yes.That was my gut feeling, since I have seen that scenario play out before.
I am not a critic, but the reports I have read indicate that blitz of any kind does not really prove much, although 10-15 min with sudden death, would indicate that "Oro"was truly gifted IF he defeated Carlsen a few times, not just one time.On the other hand, bullet can be won by all rating levels and against much stronger opponents. When big $$ is not involved with Carlsen, then my gut feeling is that Carlsen did not even take the game with Oro seriously at all.But for a young kid of 10,it is really an honor to be sitting with Carlsen,so it will carry over with him for a lifetime.

I am not following Oro and even Carlsen right now,too much going on in my life.
I did not even know about Oro,until I read the GK forum.I get Chess Life yet, from the USCF,but I have not even read the last 6 issues, they are piled up in my yacht.Probably Oro is in the last issue or two,I may check if I have the time.
