All possible legal moves
In very complex GAMEKNOT chessboard positions, in order to not miss anything, I'll often
1st: List EVERY possible legal move (in an Excel spreadsheet),
2nd: XXX-out the ones that are clearly blunders, and
3rd: Then puzzle over the remaining ones before making my next-move decision.
Is there an existing software package anywhere that would allow me to quickly do the "1st" ?
Thank you very much.

Just a suggestion.Rather than going through all of that tedious work, looking at all possible legal moves, ect ect, spreadsheets and more,do you have a good opening database like Hiarcs?
Its not free but I believe some older versions are still free.

Once set into a good GUI like shredder or other GUI's,it has many of the better and best moves, statistics of most legal moves that you can explore, while it branches off to additional variant moves.Hiarcs may not necessarily illustrate "all"legal moves, but the ones it does not list or show in its program are so weak, that they would be highly advised to not even try in ones chess game.Moves like 1.a3 or 1.h3 are not necessarily weak because Hiarcs will recognize those moves as an eventual transpositional move string which you can further explore.Hiarcs many times(depending upon the opening pursued)will illustrate moves as far as move #70 and you can explore many facets of 100's of subvarient moves/lines. CTG is the most common download you want to have. They email you Hiarcs, then you download into your GUI.

Oh...and welcome to GK!
I have been on GK as far back as 2005,but my newer account will not tell you that.
Hiarcs may not be what you are seeking, but is a very valuable tool to use as a legal opening book.Hiarcs is updated every 3 months with many of the top GM and master games,so it eclipses GK's opening book by lightyears. My two "Bibles"of chess are the old MCO-15 paperback book and Hiarcs.
