TEAM LADDER RULES
[ « Back | Team ladder ]
- Team ladder is a form of competition where each team is assigned a position (rank); lower number means higher position in the ladder;
- The object of the competition is to move up the ladder, ultimately to the number 1 position;
- Each game in a team match is scored as following: 1 point for each win, 1/2 point for each draw, 0 points for all lost games;
- The team that has the higher score after all games are finished in the team match is declared a winner; if both teams have equal scores, the match is a draw;
- After the team match is ended, both teams are assigned new positions in the ladder, depending on their current positions;
- If the winning team has lower position than the losing team, it is moved up half the distance between their position and the losing team's position; the losing team is moved one position down; (for example, if the winning team was 10th and the losing team was 4th in the ladder, their positions will be 7th ((10+4)/2) and 5th (4+1) after the match);
- If the winning team is directly below the losing team, their positions are exchanged (i.e. the winning team is moved one position up, and the losing team -- one position down);
- If the winning team already has the higher position, it is moved one position up and the losing team is moved one position down;
- In case of a draw, the team with the lower position is moved up by one position and the other team keeps its current position; if the teams are right next to each other in the ladder, their positions remain unchanged;
- If a team is not in the ladder yet, it is considered to have the last position so that the rules above can apply after their first team match is finished;
- If a team has no current team matches in progress, and has not finished a team match in the last 30 days, it is removed from the ladder forfeiting its current rank; the team can rejoin the ladder later on if they finish new matches in the future starting with the lowest rank in the ladder;
