Is this rook sac really sound?
gameknot.com
In this game my opponent sacrificed a rook early on. Although black seems to not have enough compensation, I was unable to find a way to consolidate and lost quickly. Has anyone seen this sacrifice before? Also - where did I go wrong? The post-match computer analysis doesn't record any mistake by me until the last few moves, when it is clearly lost for me - although it claims - perhaps wrongly - that the sacrifice was a mistake. Your comments would be most welcome!

Instead of 14. Be2
What about this?
14. Nc7 exf3
15. Nxf3 Nxf3
16. Nd5
Just a thought, according to my rating - lol

Pieces or Position?
After viewing the game at both positions several times I came to realize they were both playing with major different strategies.
One was playing for piece advantage, that was evident with the early Night to Rook fork that White pursued. White got a major piece advantage but left the center board open and his Night in the worst place on the board.
While Black, playing position, took advantage of his control of the center and forced Whites King to move before castle, trapping Whites Rook in the worst place on the board.
Having a one move advantage Black tucked his King out of the way to release his only Rook to join the fray.
The board wide open, with the help of black's Bishop sacrifice, Black only needed his Queen, Rook and Knight to finish the attack.
White had more pieces, they were just in the wrong places.

Hind site is 20/20 while for site, for me, is blind: art

Many thanks
Many thanks for both your comments. I think after 14. Nc7 Black has much stronger moves than exf3, for instance e3+! 15. Ke3 is forced then Nf5+ if 16. Kd3 Qd4+ 17. Kc2 Ne3+ 18. Kb3 Nxd1 and black is winning easily. White has alternatives, but none of them are any better,

For instance.....
for instance 16. Ke3 Ng3! 17. hxg3 18. Qe5+ and if Kd3 Bf5 mate or Kf2 and Bc5 mates.
