Yet another problem with 2 solutions yet only credit is given for one. It makes no difference whether you promote the pawn first or take the rook first; the end result is the same

Three points, Henry:

1. My comment is a direct rebuttal to both comments suggesting that promotion (1....d1=Q ) is a better or equivalent first move.

2. The question is "How many Angels can dance on the head of a pin?"

3. The answer, of course, is that an infinite many angels can dance on the head of a pin. However, angels do not dance. Demons, on the other hand, know how to lay down the boogie.

My point is: Both solutions work. "It doesn't matter if the cat is black or white as long as it catches mice" (MAO) Boogie on demons, I'll play the music!

OK, I will try to explain sccadams' first post. If Black plays 1...d1=Q then White plays
2.Qg7 checkmate. Therefore, 1...d1=Q is a major blunder.

Seems this violates the idea behind GAMEKNOT TACTICS- find the fastest way.....not all of use play this game w/ a scalpel, that's why I have a low rating. I like your way better.
