Don't forget: I don't. Sometimes it can be as if I am pretending, I enjoy to play for it, but I am aware I am just an average, not-gifted amateur  

A lot of battles are won just by one tempo. I won't advice ALWAYS to play "the quickest, the best", but take into account that "slowly building an attack" requires a lot of skill. If I press my opponent, the game goes my way, for good or bad, not his. And, of course, you have to have a fair idea of what you've doing (I've played this opening hundreds of times!). It happens that is a very old line, now "demodé" (out of fashion), but I am fond of it, and they often lead to good games with me attacking.

Black should play e5?! or c5 here

Very interesting, and I agree. c5 is absolutely importan against the London.

A side effect of the exchanges in h4 is that the Q is defending it, and defending c7, too. White could play Bxc7, and if QxB, one defender of the BBishop (the Q) in h5 goes. But it is all useless, since the BB can already be taken without the need of a sac in c7.

Both moves are fine here. Nc3 stops any Qb4+ ideas though

After Nc3, Qb4 is not check, but it is still threatening b2, and white has to defend. b3 is perfectly playable, as B doesn't have his dsb. Rb1 deprives white from castling rights on the Qside (my aim), and Qc1 is just ugly - but it threats to return the threat with Qg5... a very nice tactic situation. The normal outgoing is: ...Qb4, Qd2!, and if Qxb2, Rb1, Qh6, Rb3... and black's incursion into the white's field ruins white's plans to castle Qside, but creates a lot of threats including trapping the BQ under some circumstances.

Attack on g7, and if black castles, white has lot of pressure against the naked black fortress.

Black has now a very strong pawn chain, easily supported by c6. By exchanging, my Q would have landed on d4, threatening g7 and having plenty of squares to go to.

No concern about the semiopened h column?  

The lone run of the Black queen. In some circumstances, the check, followed by Qxb2 can be very, very harmful.

Why not the direct Nc3(!)? Sacrifice b2 but then you can immobilize the queen after Rb1 Qa3

Yes, you're right, teardrop. I was just sticking to my o-o-o original plan for this opening.

From c7, BQ is defending black's f pawn and is nearer from his K.

Just look at the board, Joe: the castled K is alone, with the h column with a R behind it, a B pair and a g4 pawn already developed against the black pieces... HERE black SHOULD have recalled "old principles" and preferring developing moves, like Nd7, Na6, Be6... and maybe keep the ability to caslte queenside - where his army is!

After Rd8, the bishop has to retreat, so this is a lost tempo for white.

Joe: I assume that by "short" you mean o-o, where the WK lands on g1. If it was you suggestion, I would answer: "Of course not, Joe! I want my Rooks on g and h, not my K. It will be much more secure hidden in c1, protecting b2 and letting my Rooks free to double on the h column. After this is accomplished, black should fall. How can you suggest to castle short, when he will have no protection from his pawns, but more important, where it will dumper my own attack?   -- teardrop: the retreat would have been on c5, kicking the BQ, so the tempo loss would be returned. Still, it's a poor plan, since once in c5 and the BQ gone, this B will be vulnerable to b6.
