I would have moved it right back to b3 where it is less of a target.

Too lightweight an attack. Here, I would play 8.d3, unconcerned about 8...Bxc3 9.bxc3, and then look to playing a knight or bishop to g5.

The bishop needed protection. But this was not the way to do it, as the bishop no longer as anywhere to run. Better was 9...Bb6.

This is what's called a 'desperado' (Em Lasker's coinage, I believe). The bishop is lost anyhow, so Black tries to get as much for it. I think, though, I might have investigated the possibilities of 9...Nb6, though after 10.Bb5ch Bd7 11.Bxd7ch Nxd7 12.cxd4 cxd4 Black still has nothing to show for the piece. At least with this check, Black gets a pawn for it.

This really is a horrible move. Actually, it is thematic according to Black's opening play, but with the loss of the dark-square bishop it lost its point altogether. Now Black's K-side is weakened and all sorts of possibilities open up for White.

Good move. I quite like 11.Nxg5, here. Objectively not as good as the text move, it does have the virtue of cutting and simplifying quickly to a clear cut winning game: 11.Nxg5?! Qxg5 12.Bxf7ch Ke7 13.d4 Qh4 14.dxe5 Nxe5 15.Qd5 with all sorts of threats against Black's King, trapped in the centre. Black would probably have to play 15...Qxf2ch but with rook and minor piece for Queen and 3 pawns, he would be hopelessly placed.
