It were better to have protected this pawn, or to have exchanged it. However, neither are easy to arrange. Seems, then the pawn was a goner anyhow. So then you try to make use of the time White have to spend taking it. I admit I can't find a decent move to suggest!

You should give up the Queen for not less than NINE pawns, or the equivalent thereof.

Black has nothing left to do but await the axe.

28.Rg3ch would also have led to a quick checkmate: 28...Kf6 29.Re1 f4 30.Qd8ch Kf5 31.Rg4#.

I'd call this an excellent defence in the circumstances, in view of the threat of Qg5ch followed by Ra8#. But Black doesn't have many moves left, and this one also leads to a two-move checkmate. Other moves led to mate in three.
