Annotated by charleshiggie (2222): Someone reminded me it was a while since I did an annotation. So I thought I'd do one. My opponent plays The London System - very fashionable at the moment. I was prepared for it - I had seen a few of his games. I'm not convinced it is that good. I threaten e7-e5 So he stops that, but rules out an attacking formation with Be2 and h2-h4-h5, which I had seen him play in one of his games. I am not… |
Annotated by halfairchild (1200): I aim for the opening I know best as White, the Stonewall. White seeks a pawn formation: c3, d4, e3, f4, the K N eyeing e5. Sometimes I play a Trompolski here (Bg5), but only against weaker opponents. I play the passive looking e3, opening the diagonal for the Bishop and preparing f4. This wasn't according to plan. White hoped for e6 or d5. But the Stonewall plan against cd is ed! opening… |
Annotated by blackbaron (1569): Damn..prefer to see e4 so I can play my favourite..French defence.
My standard reply to d4 I cant have this Knight pinned too long so.. Interpose Bish to free Knight not comfortable with that threatening bishop there...chase it away time to challenge for centre But havent I just lost my pawn on c5 now? BUT HE DIDNT SEE IT hmmmm..very threatening ! Knight on B8 and pawn on G7 attacked … |
Annotated by patzerman (1919): My first attempt at annotating! A friendly game in which an exchange sac brings about a position that I would play from either side. Here we go....
A computer will help out with analysis, but I will do most of the work,as I need the study time! I will not have many "lines" of analysis-I perfer to talk generally about my thoughts during the game. Comments are most welcome! A little… |
Annotated by rookie879 (1200): Hi everbody! this is a blitz game I played vs. my computerized chess board at home. It features a miniature with a material winning attack. Then after the material that was defending the king is cleared,White makes Black's King die a swift death. This is why you must develop your pieces! A Stonewall attack by a transposition of moves. White's ideal setup is pawns on c3,d4,e3,f4. Knights on d2… |
Annotated by 31415 (1200): this is a textbook case ! I hope modestly that those who like to know about ths will be interesting for this stonewall attack. so i will prepare my stonewall easily... for the moment, nothing special whith blacks, they develop, so so i do ! at this moment, ihave a risk:if i go on developping the g knight to f3, they can attack my d3 bishop whith the knight. This is very embarasting for… |
Annotated by lordnguyenvo (1752): White probably wants to steer away from opening preparation. Good diagonal for the light bishop. Especially if White doesnt fianchetto his. Moving the bishop here might lead to either trading it for the knight or wasting tempos moving the bishop from pawn attack by h6 and g5. Worst situation is that the bishop might get shut off from the fight after black plays d6. putting the question… |
Annotated by a_train_5 (1682): I am BL. Fairly standard Queen's Pawn Game. I usually try to play a Queen's Indian Defense. I feel this was a mistake. The pressure on the knight isn't relieved because I am still allowed Ne4, adding more pressure. I thought he would put my bishop to the question :) with a3, I didn't want to trade just yet, thinking I still had options to strengthen my attack. he now moves a3 which… |
Annotated by sprintingduck (1200): I've picked this game for annotation because it resulted in an improbable victory from a near impossible position - (at one stage I was down 2 knights, 1 bishop, 1 rook and 4 pawns and had only captured a single pawn in return)
Tolemac has subsequently thrashed me in every game since. Not being a student of chess openings, this seemed like a good move at the time protecting my advanced pawn … |
Annotated by damalfi (1200): When playing blitz, you are exposed to ingominous defeats. I was. Sometimes I save them, but this time I was playing against a 1900+ rated player... very seldom found in blitz (sigh!). I hoped in a good game. It was. But probably my opponent wasn't that delighted to see how sharp the London attack can be against an unwarned black player. It went all sooo smoothly... :-)
So far, all… |
Annotated by markpinkston (1611): This is the first time I have played macduffee, but I usually answer d4 with ...Nf6 to keep my central pawn options open. An interesting move that leads me to think a Colle is coming. I used to play the Colle quite a bit as white, but more recently have moved to the Scotch Game. It would be fun to play the black side of a Colle. Keeping my options open should white play c4 and transpose into… |
Annotated by 2dio (1200): Having lost several games one after another I am trying to play very carefully. Builing up something like a Colle system. Very quite too. Black and White still haven't "touched" each other. Usual development - preparing rook to e1 and Queen to c2 to increase pressure on e4 (which will eventually follow) Black wants to castle too Developing another piece - more pressure on e4 Occupying… |
Annotated by topazg (1717): Public annotation for team benefit ... Fairly unusual opening for me, but trying to turn it into a standard(ish) Queen's pawn game. Now happily in my comfort zone, looking for a sensible way to develop further. This is preventing Bb5, as I want to keep the knight for the e5 square. Slightly strange choice really, not sure why I played this. Slow move, was looking for the exchange to… |
Annotated by freeman8201 (1763): Well I am black in this game ? I am not sure if this is the proper way to start the Benoni. Please write a comment to let me know. ?? a dubious move. White is allowing me to develop !! I give myself 2 explanation marks. I am playing a reverse queen's gambit. White has been developing very timid and now I set claim in the center. Notice My d5 pawn never gets captured ??? very timid I … |
Decoy!NN (1674) vs. jstevens1 (1663) Annotated by jotheblackqueen (1200): 1. ........ Nf6 - the most popular reply to d4. This game seems a non event, but a decoy tactic at the end livens it up and I hope will whet your appetite for the tactical melee game against patzerblitzer. 6. ......... Nbd7 - challenges the e5 knight. 10........... Be6 - my position seems rather cramped, but I somehow manage to get round the problem. 15.......... Qd7 - … |
Annotated by dwardman (1661): I have been playing D4 for four months now after 20+ years of E4 I don't know why I didn't try it earlier A typical response (infact I play this myself) Black goes on the offensive I debated offering the queen exchange here I decide that I want the d3 square for my bishop Mission accomplished Now to chase the bishop and give my black squared bishop an escape square I was surprised… |
