Annotated by fiercequeen (1200): I am usually not in the habit of giving full annotations, of games by others: this is by special request; for a friend... steering at the closed version, of the Sicilian... the best way to go: contest c5... I understand this: but this move, does not belong in this system... maybe a bit early: Ng4 can contest this Bishop... bold: Nf3 seems sounder... cautious: although f4, was already an… |
Annotated by jotheblackqueen (1200): Hi everyone!
After a run of bad losses it is nice to talk about a win, especially one which involves Glenda The Defender in the position of her dreams! Well they certainly came true in this one. Watch this space. Gameknot Analysis is provided for this game (which starts off as a Sicilian Naijdorf) as follows:- http://gameknot.com/analyze-board.pl?bd=16118151&fb=1&rnd=0.03013906409039291 … |
Annotated by byakuugan3 (1200): This game features a nice attack with my favorite variation of the Sicilian Najdorf. I never have any problems playing Sicilian as Black, and I've upset a lot of high rated players with Sicilian. I quit playing e4 a long time ago when I couldn't find any good openings against Sicilian. This is only my theory, and you can disagree, but Sicilian is just good for Black, if Black plays completely… |
Annotated by cliang (1723): For me, this game marks some historical significance since it would be my first win against a 2000 on GameKnot. I had a feeling my strength had hit the rating ceiling and I was destined for a very fast, hard drop. Contrary to my beliefs, I was able to hold my own against this caliber of players and that drop is going to only happen more slowly now. ;)
Now, in reference to the game,… |
Annotated by elyhim (1200): In the Sicilian the advantage is often given to the one who can get their attack going first. In the game, I employ a simple tried and tested attack method in the English-Bryne system. This attack succeeds because I am able to utilize my opening pluses of piece superior, developmental advantage and space. Which transforms into endgame advantages of space, central dominance and superior pawn… |
Annotated by elyhim (1200): This is a fantastic game between two elite Gameknot players. It features a classic king side battle and brilliant middle game tactics. I was asked by a friend to annotate this game and I did my best. I hope you learn as much as I did. Your feedback is welcome. one of the most dangerous setups against the Sicilian. White is very clear about his intent to over run black on the king side… |
Annotated by zugswanger (1958): My opponent resigned on move 26 with a scathing note accusing me of playing like a computer. He put me on ignore, not allowing any discussion on the subject whatsoever. What is fascinating to me, is how he came to this conclusion as to me it seems like a very straightforward game. So here are my thoughts on the game. There doesn't seem to be any mystery about what is going on. I… |
Annotated by togekissbomber (1200): Hi all
This is my first annotated game on Gameknot, although I've posted a few on Chess.com:) I'm sure all fairly high rated players have seen this, the Najdorf variation. This is the Scheveningen (unless I've forgotten the name, which is very likely!). It has a reputation as a very sturdy defense, however, I've prepared a very rare gambit against it. Has white gone mad!! No,… |
Annotated by jotheblackqueen (1200): Hi everyone!
Master Chrisobee, one of my Master buddies kindly invited me to a mini-tournament containing mostly Masters and Experts and two GRANDMASTERS! I lost both my games to Ruwurtinger (whose rating was over 2500 at the time) then I found myself paired up against the Gameknot Grandmaster that every chessplayer on Gameknot has been dreaming of playing - that is, GM CYRANO! Here I find… |
Annotated by kingstuart (1200): in this game I play the Scheveningen variation of the Sicilian with 5...a6 in order to aviod the dreaded Keres Attack after 5...e6 6.g4!. The game shows a typical black counter attack on the queenside which white completely underestimates. Returning to the Scheveningen instead of continuing ...e5 in Najdorf style sencible move, blocking the long diagonal for the bishop straight away… |
Annotated by tcslick420 (1200): Notes by Travis Colon. This is an amazing attacking game by Garry Kasparov in the Sicilian, Najdorf line. His opponent Adams plays the White side. He and Short are two of the strongest British GM's. Kasparov's knowledge of this line is tremendous. watch how both sides combine attack with defense, a common theme in this double-edged system. This game is relatively short, but amazing,… |
Annotated by rjacobs (1691): This was my 18th game against Jo. We started with a string of draws, then she beat me game after game after game (if these had been rated, her rating would have been marginally higher, mine lower - her choice). Finally, after she's got me playing against masters like Freddy and annotating my games so that they're criticised constructively by the likes of ionadowman, easy19, dmaestro, nuntar… |
Annotated by dwardman (1661): So we have a standard position and we come th o the 6th move White develops I suspect white will castle long this is going to get interesting pawn attack Time to give a little support Pawns make prizes pushing the knight back Black is piling on the pressure Game over now rook sac :) white… |
Annotated by cazador2 (1515): Since I'm making this game public, I'll disclaim what eventually will become pretty apparent: I'm neither a very skilled or experienced chess player beyond the world of recreational chess. Decided to go with the move involving the Najdorf variation just for kicks. I wasn't sure what my opponent's response would be. I then decided to proceed with the dragon variation, which probably… |
Annotated by blitzkov (1200): Hello, all! This great game was a triumph for me!
J gave me the go to annotate it. Usual first move. Hehe! My favorite. All normal. This and Qxd4 are the best, I believe. Najdorf. Probably the most solid move. You'd expect me to castle - but I usually don't Let's get started with our attacks. Castles to safety. I'm always afraid of Nxb5. Planning Nc4. I like to work my knights. … |
