Annotated by archduke_piccolo (2332): This is the second half of the 'story' of two games between myself and the Microsoft Chess engine. It isn't all that strong, but offers enough opposition to keep my hand in. In the previous game, Black gave up his Queen for insufficient return. This time, I'm the one who gives up the Queen - for a mere pawn at that! Here's the plot... The engine doesn't invariably play the Sicilian, but does … |
Annotated by bakerbaker (1200): I was Black in this game in a team match. This game shows the importance of pawns. Especially in closed positions. The Sicilian Defense. White's other playable options are Nc3, f4, and c3. Risky, but interesting options are d4 and b4. And unsharp options are Bc4 and d3. This is Black's most flexible move, because it doesn't immediately commit to a plan, and simply opens lines for development.… |
Annotated by fredmcgriff (1534): My name is Fred Mcgriff, and I'm a retired Baseball professional. Having just "read" The Safest Sicilian by Alexander Delchev with Semko Semkov, I am ready to bring my new knowledge to battle. The hilarity that ensues will be my woeful regurgitation of this fine GM teaching. With this move I complete the book's subtitle, "A Black Repertoire with 1.e4 c5 2.nf3 e6" Now I am ready to export some … |
Annotated by jaybekay (1860): The books say this move is not to be recommended due to a potential fork threat on e5. Instead, ..Be7 is more usual. This leaves a hole at d5 which White is able to exploit shortly. In fact, Black's pawn structure has two permanent holes (d5 and d6). Also, the text makes the Bd6 really bad (as stated above, it probably shouldn't be there in the first place). Perhaps… |
Annotated by jeffegg2 (1300): The sicilian. with this move I announce my intentions to play the KIA vs the sicilian. It is much harder to gain then against the french. this move is used in the KIA to cut off the black kingside from blacks pieces. even though I had prepared the fianchetto, plans change.... to prepare d4. to advance the dragon bishop. My plan: to exchange the dragon bishop and attack the king on the… |
Annotated by chesstormenter (1200): My first attempt at annotation hope you enjoy it!! reasonable choice involving many tactics unlike queen pawn games which invlove positional play which isn't one of my strenghths sicilian; sharp counter attacking defense to e4, one of my favorite defenses I am very familier with preparing d4, cxd4, Nxd4 2....e6 sicilian sicilain variation; tried to confuse opponent variation of the sicilian kan… |
