Ionadowman vote game continuation 02
I thought i would start the new thread with a copy of my last post.

all the moves suggested - f5 Kf7 c5 are playable and would not cause any problems. Of the 3 i would have chosen f5 as well. Only by a small margin.
c5 would force the B away from the a1 h8 diagonal where it is quite strong.
Kf7 is good endgame practice bringing the K into play.
f5 just cements our N in a strong position controlling a lot of the board.

so i will play f5 for us.

This way I will get a message

annotations
there are many games now annotated in the MT annotations thread. I would be good to see some of those who have not yet joined in the discussions there making some contribution.
This is one of the main ways we learn from each other.
You can also benefit from the input of myself and Ion plus our 2 high rated players alex and todd.

fxg4

I would exchange and then play g6.

fxg4
I agree with fxg4. This will probably end up a draw.

fxg4
I've got to agree with the masters, I'm still in learning phase here.

agree

g6 for me!
I would play g6 now. We can seal off the kingside. He cannot get through. I feel much safer with either an intact pawn chain if he doesn't take or a pawn on f5 protecting the superb knight. F4 can always be protected by our King. It just seems strategically correct.

if g6
do we have a potential for a problem pawn on h file later?
alex388
30-Jun-13, 16:27

totally.. h-pawn would be a passed pawn.

Re. If g6
No look a bit further, although this would seem to be the case and it seems to be a bit anti-positional I'm pretty sure in this instance it just cannot get through! In my opinion anyway.

f4
If we're looking for alternative moves
zed2
04-Jul-13, 17:06

If f4
I prefer f4 to g6. It might be interesting to see how that develops.
I still prefer to resolve issues and would vote for fxg4 unless a convincing case was mounted.

f4 Belated Happy 4th to everyone
Depends on Ion's next Move

If we followed up with g5 would tie up his pawns
snowman100

Keep our pawns on White squares,
Keep our pawns on White squares and they can't become a target. I still believe we can hold the position with pawns on g6 and f5.

f4 It was only a different approach for discussion.
He'd have to put his bishop in Harms way to attack these pawns

if Be4 then f3

Then we could bring our K out

looks like
fxg4 wins the vote. So playing that

KF7
I'm not quite as happy with the position now..but here I vote Kf7. I think White now has the endgame advantage.

welcome to Porcho, who asked...
if he can join in on the vote game.

Sure. alex388 is also a new member and jumped right in. Once Pete posts our opponent Ion's move, well discuss and vote on our next move. Looking forward to your contributions.

This game started way back in October. Here are the two threads covering moves 1 through 30.

Thanks
I'll start taking part. (And I'm sorry about all the posts I made earlier, I didn't know another way to mark a thread, but hogfysshe told me how.)
