![]() 2.Nh3,any black move=Sometimes called the Hydrogen Attack And my own named opening that you never see... The Reverse Alekhine Defense with both of my Knights continually moving into their original positions in alternate fashion over a full 10 moves. No animal names here, but I could call it the Hyena Defense if you like! ![]() |

![]() The so called "Creepy Crawly" as listed above has also been referred to many times as the Basman Defense for black. You can verify this by checking online using a search engine,I just don't feel like posting the links right now.Keeping this in mind then, the moves of white DO NOT necessarily have to begin with 1.a3 or 1.h3 and/or 2.h3 ect ect. The Basman generally opens as 1.e4,g5.And then, the "creepy crawly"for black can continue as 2.d4,h6 and blacks g5 pawn can begin a thrust to g4 attacking whites Knight if he moves on f3. So yes, there is a creepy crawly for white, but the game label dosen't only refer to white making those a3 and h3 moves.A crawly game can also be 1.e4,g5 with blacks flank pawn moves and no such flank moves(a3,h3)by white at all. Most players in my chess circle at the club in NYC,when they hear the words..."creepy crawly",they automatically think of "Basman"for the games he played and how they were designed playing the black side with the creeping pawn structure, not so much the white side. My most favorite defense as black is the Basman against 1.e4...but in blitz, not the long corresp games. For it has a number of weakness's in the defense, but in fast time controls of 5 min or less with zero increment it is a formidable weapon against many, many opponents who are not familiar with the crawly and I have won countless games using the Basman, even against 2300 rated players(in blitz). Not so much in a long game where you have days to think about the open weakness's.But even though the Basman has somewhat only novel value,I actually respect quite highly for its surprise value. |
