The killer move. Instead, 21.Rxh6? fxe5 would have kept Black on terms.

White must now, in effect, win a rook. No better would have been 21...Qe8, but 21...Qc8 would have been utterly disastrous after 22.Nxe7ch.

Why not take the rook? 22.Nxb8 Rxb8 23.Rxh6 wins easily for White.

22...Nf5! was still good for an advantage.

Too late: White has a saving move...

White HAD a saving move: 24...Qb3ch! Actually, this move is OK, as it pins the forking knight. 24....Nxh6 is unplayable...

The knight was pinned.

I am just a little puzzled by White's play. He seems to be creating good opportunities for himself, and then flubbing them. Were I a suspicious sort of dude, i'd wonder if he were doing it deliberately. Of course 25.QxQ was the way to go.

Good move; attacks knight and rook both and threatens mate.

Much better was 26.Re1, when, if Black plays, too hastily, 26...Qxa7, then 27.Rxe7 draws the game! To avert mate, Black would have no choice but to play 27...Rf7 28.Rxf7 Kxf7 29.Qxh7ch. After that the Black king can run and run as fast as he can, but he can not escape the queen checks, as his pieces are scattered all around the edge of the board and can not intervene.

Black is now winning - a whole rook ahead.

Now, the 27.Re1 trick won't work, on account of 27...Qxa3 28.Rxe7 Qc1ch and checkmates next move.
